Beyond the ordinary
Freshwater from the Nueces River was the life-enabling resource that begat Corpus Christi and supported its growth. Water demand has been stable, however, growth industry demand has consumed Nueces River watershed resource, requiring changes to avert shortfall.

Beyond the ordinary
A vast network of similar rivers similarly flow to the gulf, providing a wide variety of freshwater options. Corpus Chrsti joined hands with surrounding counties to extend the reach and capacity of water, adding capture and storage reservoirs extending north where rainfall increases.

Beyond the ordinary
A host of acquifiers ranging from freshwater to light saline present additional water options, all along South Texas. The lower the salinity ("TDS level") the easier it is to desalinate it, showing up in less equipment, lower capital costs and lower operational costs (up to 12 times less energy than desalinating seawater).

And there's more to be had in re-using water: On the efforts to expand from current water resources, Drew Molly, CWW Chief Operating Officer, described the distribution of 1 million gallons of free reclaimed water as a "remarkable achievement".
